Rub a Dub Dub

Bath time is one of our favorite times. Mallory loves getter her hair washed (what little hair she has left) and she loves the feeling of the warm water when I am rinsing her off. Occasionally she will get brave and move her leg out of her sling and dip it into the actual tub. after she slides partially out and mommy moves her back, she realizes the sling is where she really wants to be.

You ask, what is the best part of bath time? Well, the best part of bath time is getting Mallory's PJs on afterwards. She is always giggling and talkative as we get her ready for bed. Aunt Erin happened to catch it all on video.

New Camera

In efforts to save money on very expensive (yet very good) professional photos, Marc and I decided that it would be a wise investment to purchase a camera that is capable of taking great quality photos even when I am the one behind the lens. I absolutely LOVE our new camera and it take fantastic photos. Here are a few of my favorites that we have taken with the new camera. I have to give the credit to Marc for taking them (which may be why they are so good...)

Happy Valentines Day

Holding little Liam Kenny while he is wearing his "babies first Valentines day" bib

Look at proud Daddy holding Liam, while mommy gazes at him in the mirror. So cute.

It is a staring contest. My money is on Mallory.

My first experience with shy Ivan. Mommy always makes you feel better :c)

We had to assist Mallory as she attempted to sit up for the picture. Not quite old enough for that...

Valentines day, 2009 was a very eventful day for the Poland family. I woke up, like any other day to the sound of Mallory crying. Time to get up to feed! When I went into her nursery (yes, she is a big girl and sleeping in her own room in her own crib!) I found a card laying next to her. That little girl found the time to get her mother a Valentines day card! What a little sweetheart.

After feeding, eating breakfast, showering, and getting Mallory ready for the day, all of us piled into the car to go see Aunt Lori, Uncle Mike, and Cousin Ivan. We got there a little after 1:00 and had some smile time on the floor until Ivan woke up from his nap. After Ivan woke up, he was very curious to see baby Mallory there. After looking at her in awe on the floor for awhile, he proceeded to his mommy. I think this is the first time I have seen Ivan act even a little shy! It quickly went away when he opened his Valentines day card and presents from Mommy and Daddy.

After our visit to Marysville, we went home and got ready to go meet Dan, Katherine, and their little one Liam out for dinner for Valentines day. We had a ball. It was so nice to have some adult time. Liam and Mallory just hung out during dinner and then they came over afterwards for a little while. Mallory and Liam ended up going to sleep and the four of us played a game of Cranium. May I add, that Katherine and I beat the boys flawlessly. However, if you ask them it wasn't a fair game. Sore losers...

Happy Valentines Day!!

Tummy Time

Now that Mallory has reached 6 weeks, I knew it was time to start "tummy time." They say you should do tummy time, once daily for about 30 minutes. I don't know who "they" are, but I wonder if "they" had to experience the crying that comes along with tummy time - at least for Mallory. We still do tummy time, but I think that lasting for 30 minutes is going to be a bit of a challenge. It seems that each day gets a little better, and she is picking up her head and moving it side to side more and more (the whole purpose of tummy time) but I think the longest we have lasted was a short 10 minutes. I think it helps to have her buddy Ally watching over her. Baby steps... Pun intended.

Aunt Erin comes to Columbus

This weekend, Erin came in from Chicago with Todd to pick up Todd's car. The car was left here over Christmas because it broke down while Todd was driving to visit his family. After that, Erin's car got broke into at the Crosswoods theatre and it forever became known as the trip the cars were doomed! However, since this happened, it gave Erin and Todd an excuse to come home and visit Mallory. Erin stayed with us the entire weekend and I am not sure if she put Mallory down once :c) She had a lot of bonding time that she needed to make up for. Everywhere we went, Mallory came with us. Everything we did, Mallory did with us. So, it would be safe to say that she had a very busy weekend.

I will say, Mallory is quite fond of her aunt Erin. She loved sleeping on her (especially when she was wearing her soft cashmere sweater!) She also woke her up Sunday morning when she just couldn't wait any longer for her to get up.

I know the visits will be few and far between, but don't worry Auntie Erin - Mallory won't forget you.

Mallory & Jaelyn

Wow. Mallory looks tiny in these pictures. I can't imagine her any bigger then she is now, but I know pretty soon she will catch up with her friend Jaelyn. Jaelyn was born about a month and a half before Mallory was, and it is amazing to me what a difference there is. Not only is Jaelyn bigger, but has much more to say and is constantly smiling. Mallory will grace us with an occasional smile (although they seem to be more consistent as the days go by) but I can't wait until I get to see that big gummy smile all the time! It is crazy what a month or two can do when they are this small.

While Jaelyn was over, she enjoyed laying on the floor for a quick photo session with Mallory and an occasional ride in Mallory's swing. It was the first of many visits, and it was a joy to see Jaelyn again, it had been too long.

1 Month Check Up

Today we went to Mallory's one month check up and I am proud to report that she is very healthy and doing just great. She is up to 8lbs, 14oz which puts her in the 50th percentile for weight. She is 22.5 inches long, making her in the 90th percentile for height! I am thinking she takes after her daddy. Before we went to the doctor, I placed Mallory in her crib while I put her laundry away. I decided to put her on the stuffed rabbit that Aunt Erin bought her and she loved it! I had to post a couple of pictures because they are so cute, please note the last one where she decided to flick off the camera - apparently she doesn't like being a celebrity.

Shout out to my Aunt's

Mallory has three amazing aunts; aunt Erin, aunt Lori, & aunt Kelly. Aunt Kelly bought her this sleeper that appropriately says "I love my Auntie." So here is Mallory wearing it with pride and giving a shout out to her wonderful aunts.

The Upell's come for a visit

Today Mallory finally got to meet Kelley and Jay. She has heard me talk about them many times, but has yet to meet them. Because they are living in Michigan, it is hard to schedule time to see them. However, when they eventually move home to Ohio, I know Mallory will see a lot of them. We can't wait for them to finally call Columbus home.

Visit to Marysville

Mallory and I went to see Aunt Lori and Uncle Mike's new house again this evening and hung out. The house looks great and is really starting to come together. We played with Ivan until it was his bed time and then we had our own little photoshoot with Mallory. The target pictures are my favorite! She was awake almost the entire evening with was a perfect time to get some good pictures with her eyes open. I think that Aunt Lori and Uncle Mike keep her up!

Little Bessy meets Bev

Last Friday, Mallory (aka little Bessy the cow) had a fabulous lunch at Jason's with myself, Grandma, and Bev. Bev drove in all the way from Chicago to visit family in Columbus and made a point to stop and meet Mallory. Even though she threatened to kidnap her and take her home to Chicago, we still let her hold Mallory :c) Thanks for the presents and lunch Bev, we had a great time.
